Nowadays, the production of mattresses is very widespread and there are indeed a large number of quality products on the market, but also those of lesser quality. The purchase usually goes through a recommendation or through a good advertisement, but it does not necessarily mean that the mattress that suits your friend will suit you.
That’s why it’s best to research what suits you best before buying a mattress, the quality of the material (foam type and density), the structure of the core (with or without zones), the possibility of removing and washing the mattress cover.
Bed mattresses are no small matter and the purchase must be taken seriously because you don’t buy a mattress every day. The modern way of life, in which a lot of time is spent in a sitting position, at the computer or in the car, affects the increasingly frequent occurrence of disorders in the form of pain in the spinal column, joints, morning stiffness, etc. Such a way of life leads to the weakening of the back and abdominal muscles, the strength and tone of which should support the spinal column. So don’t be hasty, the most important thing is to choose a mattress where your body will be in the most natural position when lying down. The goal is always to keep the spine straight while we sleep.
The golden rule says that mattresses for bed and sleeping should not be too hard or too soft.
A hard bed leads to increased pressure on protruding parts of the body when lying down (in the area of the shoulders and pelvis, and to a lesser extent in the area of the head, knees and ankles), which increases the tension of the spinal muscles and changes its physiological position. The result is improper loading of the spine and the development of degenerative changes on it, as well as disturbed sleep.
A soft bed allows for improper curvature of the spine with the same or similar consequences.
The bed together with the mattress should have optimal tone and the ability to adapt to the shape of the body. It needs to support the body, especially the spine, maintaining its physiological position when lying down. This achieves relaxation and relief of the spine and prevents its non-physiological curvature.
So before you decide on a new mattress, think carefully about these items and choose wisely. Do not forget that sleep is the most important for the health of every individual, so choosing the right mattress to sleep on is equally important.
